According to this new regulation of the TRAI, all DTH service providers must ensure the identity of their subscribers. TRAI has made it clear in its rule that DTH operators should establish a connection only at the address entered in the CAF (Consumer Application Form) filled by the users. Apart from this, go to the representatives of DTH operator’s customers and verify that the connection is established at the right user’s home.

The new KYC process will require the DTH representative to conduct a KYC process before installing the Set-Top Box. The DTH representative will ensure that the Set-Top Box is installed on the same address as the one mentioned in the Customer Application Form. The person will also verify the details and the operator will need to maintain the record of the installation as well.

1. First of all, we talk about the CAF (Consumer Application Form) given while taking a DTH connection. In this, the name, address, contact number etc. of the subscriber is entered.

2. According to the new rule, DTH operators complete the verification process by sending OTP (One Time Password) to the users on their registered number.

3. If you are also looking for a new connection to DTH or have already taken it, then make sure that your registered mobile number is working, i.e. OTP can be sent to it.

4. If the registered mobile number of the users is not current, then the DTH service provider will have to collect the document (identity card) of the subscribers from the users.

TRAI told about the new rule that ”there are many old users whose mobile numbers are not registered with the service providers. Service providers will have to link users mobile numbers within the next 2 years”.

Apart from this, a document of identity proof of the users will also have to be collected. These instructions from TRAI have come to prevent smuggling of set-top boxes. Smuggling can be prevented by destroying the set-top boxes that do not verify the KYC process.
